Embracing the Fog

January 24, 2016 By Rachel Dressler Leave a Comment

heavy fogIn the light of recent events, The Material Collective would like to affirm the following about our work to reform art history, medieval studies, and academia in general. While not a specifically feminist organization, what we do and believe grows out of this radical and necessary movement. We stand with others, especially SMFS and BABEL Working Group, with whom we are allied, to declare for basic principles of fairness and openness. We embrace:

  • Collegiality
  • Inclusivity
  • Generosity of spirit, word, and deed
  • Collaboration and support of one another
  • Openness and transparency in all academic endeavors: conference panels, publications, and peer review

We embrace the fog!

About the Material Collective

As a collaborative of students of visual culture, Material Collective seeks to foster a safe space for alternative ways of thinking about objects. We strive for transparency in our practice, and we encourage the same in our institutional surroundings.
